YouTube Expands AI Likeness Detection to Entertainment Industry

2026-04-21 07:09

YouTube has extended its AI deepfake detection tool to celebrities, talent agencies, and management companies including CAA, UTA, and WME, following an earlier rollout to politicians and journalists. The system works like Content ID: it scans for AI-generated content matching an enrolled person's face and lets them request removal — enrolled persons do not need their own YouTube channel. According to the official YouTube blog announcement, audio detection support is planned for a future phase. TechCrunch coverage notes the tool explicitly permits parody and satire content under existing YouTube policy.
