White House Blocks Anthropic Plan to Expand Mythos Access to 70 Additional Companies

2026-04-30 19:09

The Trump administration told Anthropic it opposes expanding Mythos — the company's restricted-access cybersecurity model — from approximately 50 to 120 organizations, according to The Next Web and France 24 citing Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal. The White House cited two concerns: security risk from a model that autonomously discovered thousands of zero-day vulnerabilities in testing and succeeded on 73% of expert capture-the-flag tasks, and compute constraints that would degrade NSA access if 70 additional companies joined. The block comes as Anthropic is simultaneously raising a reported $40–50 billion round at a $900 billion-plus valuation partly to scale Mythos infrastructure, and as the administration separately drafts an executive order to reverse the Pentagon's supply-chain-risk designation of the company.
